Do You Know How to Spot the CLUES of a Psychopath?

Matt and Sweat

Psychopaths view themselves SUPERIOR than others and are strongly driven by high-stake REWARDS.  They minimize the potential danger or punishment of their actions, lack moral conscience, and take extreme risks for big-pay-off rewards.

The characteristics (e.g., intrepid, charismatic, arrogant, intelligent, manipulative, and goal-focused) of psychopaths may be in both the criminal-minded and also in successful business-minded individuals.

Psychopath brain scans are different with significantly reduced grey matter volumes in the anterior rostral prefrontal cortex and temporal pole.  Average people feel the stress and discomfort from lying.  However, psychopaths get increased dopamine & personal power through pathological lying, and lack normal guilt, remorse, or shame for their wrong-doings. They do not grasp or fear punishment because in their minds they won’t get caught, therefore punishment isn’t part of the equation.

BEWARE!  Psychopaths are not always like infamous prison escapees Richard Matt and David Sweat. They may also be charming and famous professionals, TV and movie star entertainers, athletes, actors, and business people.

Therefore, it is important to know the clues and criteria in order to avoid psychopaths from ruining your life. Ex-prison worker Joyce Mitchell fell prey and victim to the cold and calculated cunning lies of murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat. Mitchell pled guilty to promoting prison contraband in the first degree, a felony, and criminal facilitation in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor

The twenty traits assessed by the Psychopathy Check List-Revised score are:

  1. glib and superficial charm
  2. grandiose (exaggeratedly high) estimation of self
  3. need for stimulation
  4. pathological lying
  5. cunning and manipulativeness
  6. lack of remorse or guilt
  7. shallow affect (superficial emotional responsiveness)
  8. callousness and lack of empathy
  9. parasitic lifestyle
  10. poor behavioral controls
  11. sexual promiscuity
  12. early behavior problems
  13. lack of realistic long-term goals
  14. impulsivity
  15. irresponsibility
  16. failure to accept responsibility for own actions
  17. many short-term marital relationships
  18. juvenile delinquency
  19. revocation of conditional release
  20. criminal versatility

Know how to spot these identifiers in order to stay away from charming, but dangerous, Psychopaths.

  1. This is a huge issue that I am wondering if you can spot the lie while they are talking. Actually when I came to the presentation that you did, I was dealing with a woman I now believe to be a psychopath. She has literally destroyed my name amongst people at my church and redeeming my good name has been and still is difficult. I became friends with her and for almost a year and a half, she showed ABSOLUTELY NO SIGN OF BEING NUTTY. People warned me about her being mean but unless people show me, I keep the friendship because often people say bad stuff out of jealousy. Anyway, let me ask you, this. If you have ever dealt with a psychopath, could you tell when they were lying? This girl lies all the time to people and does it with such grace and ease and I think people don’t want to believe that she would just say stuff to destroy people’s lives. Who does stuff like that? Crazy people. Can they be kind for long periods of time without people knowing they are really lying? >
